10/14/03 update . . .
OPEIU HEALTHCARE PENNSYLVANIA ELECTS NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS PRESIDENT
During the recent OPEIU HEALTHCARE Pennsylvania election of officers and Board of Directors, there was a tie between two members for the
office of President of the OPEIU HEALTHCARE Pennsylvania Board of Directors. This tie necessitated a run-off election be conducted between the two candidates, Cheryl MacDonald and Michaelene Panzarella.
Run-off ballots were mailed to the membership and were to be returned by October 10th for tabulation. The results of this run-off election are now final.
The new President of the OPEIU HEALTHCARE Pennsylvania Board of Directors is Michaelene Panzarella of Hazleton General Hospital. She
commences serving her three-year term on October 13, 2003.

A heartfelt thanks should also be extended to out-going President, Cheryl MacDonald, for her loyal leadership and guidance.

NEW MEMBERS ON BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OPEIU HEALTHCARE Pennsylvania recently held elections for three members of its Board of Directors. The three candidates elected for
three-year terms were:
Debbie Wildoner, Hazleton General Hospital Kathy Reppert, Southeast PA Veterans Home Cheryle Stone, UPMC Braddock Medical Center
The term of office for the Treasurer of the PNA Board of Directors was also up for election. The incumbent, Carol Thomas, was unopposed and
was re-elected to another term.

08/13/03 update . . .
We're Changing Our Name !
The Pennsylvania Nurses Association is changing its name. With unanimous approval from the PNA Board of Directors and the OPEIU Executive
Board, the Pennsylvania Nurses Association is changing its name to OPEIU HEALTHCARE Pennsylvania. Our new web address is http://www.opeiuhealth.org.
This change is the first step in the organization's commitment to reestablish itself as the premier healthcare union in
Pennsylvania. The plight of the healthcare professionals has reached a critical stage and OPEIU HEALTHCARE Pennsylvania is positioning itself to become a dominant advocate for healthcare employees throughout
the state.
This new identity is a reflection of this mission. As OPEIU HEALTHCARE Pennsylvania, it will further capitalize on the International's
presence in the state, making the organization a more formidable force. Further improvements in the service to the membership is also forthcoming.
OPEIU HEALTHCARE Pennsylvania is not forsaking the heritage of the Pennsylvania Nurses Association but enhancing it.
OPEIU HEALTHCARE Pennsylvania is and will remain the "Guardians of the Healthcare Profession" in Pennsylvania.
